[resolved] Timeline doesn't show entire recording [resolved]

Beitrag von rsoft » 19.11.2008, 12:40

Hi,

I'm currently evaluating DVR-Studio Pro 2.15. So far I'm impressed with the ease of use.

However, I now have recorded my first movie with commercials and can't access the entire recording. The originial .TS file from my Humax plays correctly in VLC, right until the end. In DVR-Studio I only see the first part of the recording (2 hour and 26 minutes if I recall correctly). Is this a demo-limitation? Or am I overseeing anything obvious? I couldn't find other questions regarding this error.

There is no limitation in Demo-Mode of our software, exept the "Demo" tag in DVD-menus and of course 30 days of runtime.

Regarding your question: some receivers split recordings into multiple files. Please check if there are more "large" files around and open all of them. After this you can merge them into one single recording.

2:26 sounds very much like a 4GByte limit.

Well, that's the odd thing... I have a single .TS file of 8.887.629 KB, so it's not a 4GB limit. I have done more recordings, all of them over the 4 GB limit, but this is from another TV Station. If I look back now, it's the second movie not from a Film1 station and both gave me this problem.

I know that the entire recording has been transferred to my laptop as I have checked with VLC (VideoLan) that the entire movie had been recorded. If I go into DVR-Studio, it shows up to frame 2:26:50. The movie is 720x576, 16:9, PAl 25, 7.1 MBit/s with MP2 Stereo 256kBit/s

I must admit that I haven't tested such a large recording for some time myself. 2:26 at such a high bitrate sounds very much like at around 8GByte.
How long should the recording be in total?

Oops,

I now tried to verify at which point the application stopped interpreting and it seems that I have made an error myself... In DVR-Studio i was looking for the credits (at the end of the movie) but couldn't find them because they hadn't been transmitted (only in a very short form). What I tought was still in the original movie, was actually the beginning of the next movie... my apologies.

The other instance may have been caused because both my PVR and the software were new to me...

Thanks for your time.
