how to cut HD *.trp? Is using *.mkv possible?

Beitrag von peceny » 09.03.2009, 18:35

I have downloaded a trial version of the DVR-Studio HD and installed it from the "DVR-Studio HD Setup094ger.msi" file.
Pictures from *.trp HD files recorded by my Vantage HD 1100S receiver
are well visible in the program window. But I do not understand how to mark start and end of a portion to be cut and how to convert the record into a 720p *.mkv file. No help file is available before registering a license, but I wish to try it before buying, as usual.

I have tried to load a 7 GB or a 600 MB *.mkv file to convert it to a *.trp for my Vantage set-top. I use a Pentium 4 CPU 3GHz, 1GB RAM, 500 GB hard disk (I have sent a "CPU properties.jpg" by mail), Windows XP Professional, actualized.

I know that the recommended hardware is a dual core CPU, but I need using the CPU described for the purpose. Is it possible at all? (A long time for transforming does not mind; a very short *.trp from my Vantage set-top had loaded and saved OK and the result played well by the set-top.) I have sent you the main window picture after about 12 hours of full run with greater file; the same is for the 600 MB file after an hour. Two marks shown in the window "thermometer" appeared immediately after I had started loading the *.mkv and stay there steadily. Should I try it once more from the start? Or should I do anything else for it? (As far as I know, the Vantage splits long files; I do not know how to set it at your HD Studio. As I have told you, I have no guide for the trial experiments while
you state that the trial version is fully functional during the trial period.

Our Software can only handle Transport-Streams. MKV is not possible and will not be supported.
The concept of our software is to edit recordings WITHOUT any conversion in video and audio formats.

The cut-areas are the other way around as you might expect: you have to mark the portions the you want to have DELETED.

As for the CPU requirements: As long as you can play your HD-Videos at normal speed without problems that's ok. In my experience this is rarely possible with single-core CPUs, but if it works in your case thats fine.
