Sync prob with stream from Dreambox DM500T

Beitrag von ankan » 06.02.2006, 21:16

I have sync. problems when I convert my recorded .ts to MPEG. I heard about this nice program at a Dreamboxforum and gave it a try to see if it could do the job. But I'am sorry it didn't. But I got som good info (I guess) from the logwindow about the conversion.
I used DVR-Studio Pro 1.08 Beta 5.

I got alot of invalid audio frames as you can see and lots of sequence errors. What can I do? will this problem be fixed in later version?

It works great to playback the .ts file without any sync problem. So why do I get sync problems when I convert it to MPEG? And what to do about it?

@ankan

I think there is no way to fix this. The stream contains duplicate or missing MPEG-Packets and checksum errors in audio packets. SAT-receivers can ignore this and skip over such sections. But DVD-Players would just stop playing anything at that point. So we have to remove those pieces. If there are too much of them synch will be lost.

Please try a recording from a totally different network.

Why can I play it on my computer (in .ts format) without any problems when I cant convert it? Why not just replace the missed audiopackages with emty ones? I don't think it will be noticed.

@ankan:

That what the software does, if it's not too many of those frames.

But playing a stream with some dedicated TS player is easier than demultiplexing and synching in such a way DVD-players will be able to play it. It's not "just store what you would play". There are differences between TS and DVD-MPEG.

You can send me a sample of this recording with this tool:
http://www.haenlein-software.com/HS/dow ... Sample.zip
make sure the error happens with the sample, too. Else it will be of no help.

And please try some recording from a totally different network (free-TV, no AC3).

Hi,
Source: Dreambox TS with 2 audiotracks (Hun + Czech)
1) TS playback is OK (Dream + PC)
2) DVR Pro - conversion result OK
3) 2. Audio-Spur is out of sync in Demux and VIDEO_TS dirs.
4}WMF, NeroShowTime, WinAmp plays 2. audiotrack BAD (full video or Demux 2-audiotrack file only)
5) Arcade, TMPEnc ... works fine on the same DVR Pro file outputs

And what channels are these? If they belong to the same provider, then all channels might have the same problem.

I don't still understand why Windows Media Player plays perfectly this recording without sync problem. Why ?

me too ;)... There is an "audio-delay" feature on the 2nd page of the DVD-Wizard. Just right-click over the audio-track you want to correct the delay.

I have also a sometimes files with audio out of sync.

I get the following message:

First Video PTS is 0:02:51,080
First Audio PTS is 0:02:51,220
Stream has VBV_Delay of 562ms

My question is when I create the MPEG file or the m2v and mp2 files with DVR studio, is the delay applied?

I have seen above that you can apply a delay with the version pro of DVD, is this working OK?

I now use IFOedit to create a DVD and I apply the delay there but if it is easier with DVRstudio pro, I am willing to upgrade.

@phil32:
yes - the delay is compensated as written in the online help. The mentioned "audio-delay" option in the DVD-wizard also states that the delay is compensated automatically. Only use it if you are absolutely sure that this automatic correction doesn't work.
