Process fails abnormally since 1.40 upgrade
Previous versions have been completely reliable. So far every time I have run 1.40 it has terminated abnormally.
First, it seems that unless a valid path is given for compressed files, the program displays an error claiming inadequate disk space - even if no compression is required.
If a valid path is given for compressed files, the program fails part way through the demuxing process (in my case, about a quarter of the way into the second title (of 2)).
All of the drives in use have adequate space (D: 18Gb, S: 30Gb, Q: 80Gb) S: and Q: are on an external disk and have always worked with DVRPro in the past.
Is there any way to revert to the previous version? I have a lot of work waiting to be done...

@fenlander:
if you really want to downgrade to Version 1.25 you can find it here:
http://www.haenlein-software.com/HS/dow ... 25.eng.exe
But I would very much appreciate if we could identify the problem at a later stage.

Kimi,
Thanks for the quick reply - on a Sunday, too! I've downloaded the previous exe in case it's needed.
I'm running another conversion using 1.40 - the simplest possible: one title, no menu, creating vobs but not writing the disk. The processes that were failing each involved 2 titles (batch mode), with menu - menus included jpg graphics.
The current conversion has already passed the point at which the provious ones failed, so I'm hopeful. If it completes successfully, I'll try another 2-title- with-menu conversion and see how that goes.

OK. The simple conversion completed normally. I then set up another one with 2 titles and a menu - not the same files that were giving trouble earlier.
Same error:
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program C:\Program Files\DVR-Studio Pro\DVR-StudioPro.exe
abnormal program termination
This occurred about 1 minute into demuxing the first title.

This gets interesting. Things are not always what they seem.
1.25 is behaving in exactly the same way as 1.40 - I even did a full uninstall and re-installed 1.25.
The problem seems to be specific to certain files, to be exact BBC1's Planet Earth. Parts 1 to 5 of this series were shown last spring and I converted 1 to 4 successfully with DVRPro at 2 episodes per disk. I left episode 5 to combine with episode 6 which was not transmitted until this autumn. 5 to 9 have now been transmitted.
5 can be converted with DVRPro. 6 to 8 - the autumn episodes - cause the error. 9 was only transmitted tonight and I have not yet downloaded it.
So, is this a deliberate anti-copy strategy by the BBC or just something they've done to the format that DVRPro doesn't handle?

ok, that's what I (almost) had expected
... Could you please try to create a small file of that recording? Then try with the small file again. If the error happens there, too, you can send me the file or upload it on my FTP server.
We have a tool to create small sample files:
http://www.haenlein-software.com//HS/do ... Sample.zip
You can switch the tool to english language. Instructions on uploading or email are shown by the tool, too.
But make sure the problem persists with the small file. If not, then you would have to try to set cut-areas and "copy edited recording" in a way you get a small file showing the error. Small file means up to 200MByte if you upload it to FTP.

Kimi,
I don't think any of 'small' file sizes will help much as the failures are well into the conversion process. Here are the latest results:
Episode 6: fails regularly at approx 11m44s when converted alone with no cuts
Episode 7: converts successfully when done alone with no cuts
Episode 8: converts successfully when done alone with no cuts
Episode 7 + 8 batched with cuts and menu: fails at approx 9m20s while demuxing ep.7.
The timings are found by viewing the m2v file.
The failure is always during demuxing, so I don't think the menus are implicated at all. The source files play perfectly well in VLC player, with no visible problems at the point where they fail in DVR Studio.
I have also converted 5 other files downloaded from the PVR in same session - none of them caused any problems.

@fenlander:
in Episode 6 you could try to set a cut-area from the begining until about 11m30s and then another one from 12m00s to the end. Then use "copy edited recording" and you will get a smaller file of about 30-60Mbyte. Then try if the error happens with that one too.
If yes
- I can analyze it and hopefully solve the problem.
If no
- we have to think about something else...
