Problem Burning with 1.40

I have encountered a problem during the burn process with DVR-Studio Pro 1.40
After about 80% of the burn I get an error box:
Status=Check Condition
Sense Key=Hardware Error
Sense Code=3
Additional Sense Code Qualifier=1
I have tried this twice with the same results. I have successfully burned a different programme using 1.40 earlier this week, so I don't know what is wrong. Any suggestions appreciated.

I would asume that the DVD-media is different than the last time.

Yes, I've done some more investigating and it does seem to be media related, but I have used these (Tesco Branded DVD-R from same batch code) succesfully before, so it's a bit of a surprise.
I guess the simple answer is to try another brand.
The failed recordings are big, so I'll try a much smaller one to confirm whether the issue is size related.
Any other tips appreciated.

Switched to Memorex 16x DVD-R and all is fine with the longer recordings now. Very strange that the other brand stopped working but I guess they must have some kind of marginality.
Thanks for suggesting the media as the likely issue.

Maybe the media you have used just got "old". And also your DVD-burner "wears out" (some sort of). I change my DVD-burner once a year, because if I keept them longer, the burned DVDs cannot be read by anything else than the one that burned them.

With regards using Tesco own-brand DVDs - I have had problems using these in the past (not just with DVR-Studio Pro). The ones I have are rated at 8x, but I have found that 2x is the only reliable speed to use.
I've also found that if the content comes close to the size of the DVD (4.7Gb) then I get problems.
