Editing and copying HAV-files

In version 1.08 Beta 3 (German version) (the first one I have ever tried) I was able to remove the cuts from the HAV-file by selecting "COPY EDITED RECORDING". This produced a new copy with which I was able to use DVD Wizard and always with a success.

Now beginning from 1.08 Beta 4 (Eng) , and continuing in Beta 5 (Eng), I am not allowed to do this. DVR-Studio gives a warning message.
If it worked in Beta 3, why not any more? What has changed?

If it is necessary to disallow editing HAV-files, I suggest you to add an option to save information of CUT-AREAS relating to certain HAV-file so that if one makes several operations with one HAV-File, one does not need to set same cut-area information over and over again.

My HAV-files are produced by HANADN DVB-T 6000.

if you read the warning information carefully you now know how to do it the right way:
- first set all cuts (they are stored in the registry)
- now call the DVD-wizard directly.

there is no need to remove the cuts first! It takes more time and results in less quality. Editing HAV in Beta 3 was an error. You would never be able to copy those files back to the receiver, because the data seems to be aligned the wrong way then. As we do not have any documentation from HANDAN how to do this, we make sure this problem cannot happen any more.

As mentioned all cut-information IS stored into the registry. When you open a recording next time they will be there again. There was a change in the way cut-information was saved from Beta 4 to Beta 5, so all cut-information was lost. But from now on it will work.

Thanks for the information

I will try to read instruction more carefully next time.

Now, only thing DVR-Studio seems to lack is the ability to handle DVB Subtitles.

subtitles: yes I agree. Unfortunately SAT-DVB subtitles are not the same as DVD-subtitles, so there is no easy solution.
