Subtitles

Beitrag von Uncool » 06.02.2006, 16:31

Hello, I'm very interested in buying this product.
It's the fastest way to handle .ts files :)

I'm currently running the demo version of the newest beta.
I have a Dreambox 7020.

Is it possible to include subtitles?
When I tried to create a mpeg from a movie i recorded (Canal+ Sweden)
the subtitles does not show.

Am I doing something wrong here?

Thanks!

@Uncool:

subtitles are not supportet yet. The problem is, that subtitles are different in TS files than on DVD and there are multiple standards.

But I have subtitles on my planned feature list, although I cannot say when it will be implemented.

Hello molly,

sorry, at the moment we have a lot to do. I think in the next 6 month we don't have time for that function.
Mit freundlichen Grüßen

Hi

I have basicly same issue than Mattias from Swerige announced. I'm also waiting SW product (willing to pay it also) which can easily transfer DVD format subtitles to TS text format.

Actually my "home made standard" is now TS format. I'm converting everything to TS and I'm keeping everything in my Dreamboxes (DM7020 and DM7025 ) hard disks. My home camera videos and videoclips are there on Dreamboxes Hard Disk. Of cource back-up's are burned to DVD but those are also in TS format because it is much faster to make and burn.

If I borrow DVD's from my friends or from library I first convert them to TS format.

Are yo talking about subtitles via videotext? In Sweden all foreign films have subtitles automaticly. German Public Service TV sometimes have subtitles via videotext. Page 150 for some (ARD, NDR etc.) and page 777 (ZDF) for others. Commercial TV is another story. Pro7 have a few films with subtitles via videotext.

Yes teletext type would be OK also. In Dreambox also DVB-txt format is possible. That one is used in Finlands Terrestrial TV. It consists of sub-pictures.
In that system all alphabets are subpictures (bit map pictures) which are time aligned with video picture. I think that system is more close to original DVD text format but I'm not sure.

Teletext type sub-text is more widely used in satellite movie channels
like Viasat nordic and canal digital nordic.

Hi,

I'm also interrested in your product and would like to know if you have added support to extract the subtitles in the teletext system (Sweden)??

Thanks!
